The Seven Principles of Healing:

Principle #1 - Create Your Healing Manifesto + Roadmap

When is the last time you asked yourself what you want? Think about your career, finances, health, spiritual connection, and even mental well-being. What do you want for yourself in each of these areas? It’s easy to think at the surface level - better health, get out of debt, exercise more. But what do these things really mean? Without specific and measurable goals, you’re fooling yourself to think you’ll actually make sustainable progress!

A manifesto is a declaration, and today you’re going to create your own. When you think about what you want, listen to what feeds your spirit and makes you smile. Because your physical health impacts every other area of your life, this will likely be at the core of your Manifesto. No matter what goals you have across life’s spectrum, if you do nothing to take care of your physical health, you have a 0% chance of becoming the person you want to be.

Centering Thought for the Week

“I am clear about what I want and allow the life experiences I need in order to reach my desired goals.”

Action Steps

1. Create your own Healing Manifesto and Roadmap using the worksheets below. They can be easily downloaded and printed:

  • Journal Prompt

  • Make Shift Happen

  • Roadmap Template

The Journal Prompt worksheet can be used to help you clarify what you want. You can start by using one worksheet per area of your life. It will walk you through the brainstorming process of deciding what you want. You’ll hear me refer to the “wheel of life”. This is simply the overall look at life and can be broken down into the following categories:

  • career

  • wealth

  • health

  • spirituality

  • relationships / life partner

  • family and friends

  • personal growth

  • recreation

  • contribution

If you aren’t ready to take the plunge into each area right now, that’s ok! Begin with what resonates with you the most. The idea is for this to be introspective - not overwhelming. If you decide to begin with just one area, work it through completely using the journal prompt before creating your Healing Manifesto, which is the next step.

2. Using the Make Shift Happen worksheet, list short keywords or phrases for each life area you decide to work on, referring to the information you came up with in step 1.

Once you have an idea about what it is you really want in one or more areas of your life, it’s time to start crafting your Healing Manifesto. Remember, our wants and desires evolve as we do - it’s totally OK to revisit this step if you decide your wants have shifted. Now, let’s create your declaration, or statement that represents who you want to be and what you want to have. Some ideas to ponder in the process:

  • What would you want yourself, ten years from now to know about the goals you are declaring today?

  • If I were reading your Manifesto, what would you want it to say? How would you want it to sound?

After your Manifesto is complete, which, by the way, can be updated as often as necessary, keep it close to you - even in front of you at all times! This could mean rewriting it on another piece of paper and posting it on the refrigerator, on your night stand or even typed in your phone and used as your phone’s wallpaper. It’s up to you. What matters is that you see it and speak it daily. What we think about we bring about, and keeping it top of mind allows it to be a predominant thought in your mind.

I’d love to hear how you think this will help to shift every area on your own wheel of life. Each lesson to follow in the coming weeks will be a reflection of this one, because we need to know where we’re going in order to actually get there.

Cheers to knowing what the heck you want! You got this!
