Restoration: Add More Life to Your Life

Going through a difficult season? Trying to find flow?

This article explores what it takes to restore life to your everyday occurrences, as well as the deeper parts of life that can leave you feeling stuck, confused and like a hamster on a wheel - running but going nowhere fast.

The concept of flow is nothing revolutionary; but, the sound of the word instantly transports me to a state of bliss (at least in my head LOL). In fact, I like to define flow as:

  • a state of unforced bliss

  • when you are in your groove

  • when you feel unstoppable, regardless of external occurrences

I recommend that you also learn more about the concept of flow in this interesting TED Talk by Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi. It’s received more than 5 million views.

If you want to restore one or multiple areas of your life, I’d like to introduce you to my 3-step process to find flow and feel a sense of peace, so you can begin the process of restoration. These steps are divided into Weekly Modules in Restoration, my online mini course that dives deeply into the 3 main steps needed to effect change.

Meditate & Visualize
It seems there are hundreds, if not thousands of different types of meditation - yikes! A tall glass of overwhelm, anyone?

When we strip it down to its minimalist state, meditation simply means a continuous, calm thought upon some subject, or a devotional exercise of or leading to contemplation. How you choose to do it is not a requirement for simple and transformative meditation.

It should feel comfortable for you, in whatever stage of life you’re in. Feeling flow and like you’ve mastered many areas of your life? Then up the ante and dive into more specific philosophies and techniques of meditation for an immersive experience to see which feel right to you. Until then, just hold still and meditate.

Visualization, a formation of mental visual images, can be used to draw into your life the very experiences, people, places and things you desire. This goes hand-in-hand with meditation and can further relax the mind, even when under stress. What matters most is that the mental images you “see” are positive in nature - images of what you want, not what you don’t want.

There is so much information about personal growth at our fingertips, that once we’re ready to learn, we are one step closer to actually transforming whatever we want!
